Who is Dr. Quinn?

From Northeast Georgia, For Northeast Georgia

I'm Dr. Ian Quinn, a non-surgical sports medicine physician born in Atlanta and raised in Buford, Georgia. Growing up here, graduating from Buford High School in 2008, and now practicing in the same communities that shaped me is a privilege I don't take lightly. This area is home, and caring for the active individuals and families of Northeast Georgia is at the heart of what I do.

My path into sports medicine began early. I attended Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, where I earned my bachelor's degree in Athletic Training with a minor in Bible in 2012. That combination of hands-on sports medicine training and faith-informed study shaped how I see the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—and laid the foundation for a holistic approach to health, performance, and recovery.

I went on to complete my medical degree at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) in Spartanburg, South Carolina, graduating as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2017. My osteopathic training emphasized seeing patients as more than a diagnosis or a single injured joint. It taught me to look at movement patterns, lifestyle, and long-term health, not just what hurts today. That philosophy continues to guide how I evaluate injuries, build treatment plans, and help patients stay active for the long haul.

Before starting residency, I met my wife, and we were married at the end of my intern year in 2018. I completed my Family Medicine residency at Wake Forest Baptist Health in 2020, then stayed an additional year to pursue a fellowship in Sports Medicine, finishing in 2021. That extra year allowed me to deepen my expertise in caring for athletes and active people of all ages—from youth sports to weekend warriors to older adults who want to keep moving well.

After training, we moved back home to Northeast Georgia, where I joined Longstreet Clinic and began practicing sports medicine in Gainesville and Braselton—the same region where I grew up and where many of my own family's memories were made. Over the next few years, our family grew to a family of five, and being a husband and father has only strengthened my commitment to helping others stay healthy, active, and present for the moments that matter most.

Today, my practice focuses on non-surgical sports medicine: helping patients prevent injuries, recover well, manage pain, and return to the activities they love—whether that's competition on the field, exercise at the gym, or simply keeping up with kids and grandkids. My goal is to combine evidence-based medicine, osteopathic principles, and a personal understanding of this community to help you move better, feel better, and live a healthier, more active life.
